Biography

I remember getting into a lot of trouble for drawing on my mother's walls when I was a young girl. Luckily
my mom doesn't mind too much when I do paintings for her now!

When I was five my family moved up to the beautiful Peace River country in northern B.C. We lived on a farm for many years and it was there that I gained my appreciation for nature and the farming community. I still reside in the "Mighty Peace" today and every time I drive down a quiet country road I know why I'm
still here.

Growing up I was influenced by many painters. Robert Bateman and Caravaggio were my favourites in the early
years. After going to art school for a year I acquired an appreciation for many of the Impressionists; Renoir
being my favourite.

Many years later I took a whirlwind trip to southern Europe where I witnessed so many of the greats including Michelangelo, Botticelli, Picasso, and my surprising personal favourite, Marc Chagall. Surprising because Chagall's work is so completely different from my style, but his work fascinates me, with it's thick layers of paint and bold bright colours.

To me art is everything. It's the passion in our lives that makes life worth living. All of us have something to say and want a reaction to it. If we as artists get people excited or happy or even angry, then we have accomplished something.

When people look at my artwork I want them to feel connected to it somehow. We are all a part of nature
and a part of history. If people say that they've been there or seen that, then I've just included them in the story of that painting, and that's what it's all about!
